Basic Information

This event is open to dan holders only. Registration desk opens at 8:30am, registration times for each group will be sent out after the application deadline. Only those whose registration time has come will be allowed within the Chūō Dojo, all others must wait outside. The competition will begin at 9:30am. Awards will be given at the end of the competition.

Event Proceedings

  • Archers will shoot hitote (2 arrows)
  • The Chūō dojo will be split into 4 shajō, archers will shoot in 3-person tachi.
  • Archers will utilize taikai timing (hitote, zasha, 3-person style). However, the Hanshi will conduct the shinsa timing.
  • Those who hit both arrows will participate in the finals. The finals will be conducted by the izume method using a 24cm hoshi mato. In the event all finalists miss, the ranking will be decided using the enkin method using a 36cm kasumi mato.

Awards

  • Those placing in 1st through 3rd places will receive a certificate and a medal. Those who place in 4th or 5th place will receive a certificate.
  • For the Shogosha division, the winner will be awarded a (traveling) plaque from Meiji Jingu.
  • Those placing 1st through 5th will receive a certificate, and those placing 1st through 10th will receive a commemorative gift from Meiji Jingu.

Notes

  • Participants can enter the dojo only during their assigned registration time.
  • Participants should wear kyudo-gi or wafuku, and wear their taikai number (distributed at registration) on the right side.
  • In the a participant does not show up by the time the group reaches the 3rd hikae, they will be considered as forfeiting their participation in the taikai.
  • The hosts will decide the location (Chūō Dojo or Shiseikan) for all shooting.
  • Parking in the assigned Meiji Jingu parking lots is forbidden on the day of the taikai, please use public transportation.
  • The hosts will look after the safety of all participants, but participants are also encouraged to participate in creating a safe sport area.
  • Participants should bring proof of their own medical insurance.

Notice of use of images

By participating in this event, participants agree to allow their image used to in the Kyudo-shi magazine and on the internet (e.g. the X platform, etc). Those who wish their image not appear in these public fora should contact the AKR President so that she can convey this to the organizers of this event.

Applications must go through the office of the affiliated group, no individual applications please. Those in the AKR should apply through this platform, so that the AKR President can send your applications in a timely manner.
